Coating materials

PVD

Right from the beginning, CemeCon has used the sputter technology for production of the PVD coating materials. The coating systems of the CC800®/9 series are produced by CemeCon in-house and are subject to ongoing development.

Use of the sputter process enables production of particularly smooth coatings and a wide range of materials in the composition of coating materials. Moreover, the coating processes at CemeCon are coordinated with the particular tool groups.

This means that shaft tools are always only coated together with shaft tools and indexable inserts are only coated together with indexable inserts.

CVD diamond

The technology for producing the diamond coatings was also developed and produced by CemeCon and produced in-house. Famous as the hardest substance in the world, diamond is an ideal coating. A CVD process is used with which the crystalline and nanocrystalline diamond coatings are produced, which correspond closely to natural diamond.

The selection of the coating morphology (crystalline or nanocrystalline) depends on the material to be processed:

  1. Very abrasive materials such as graphite and hard metal green parts are processed with the crystalline diamond coating.
  2. A nanocrystalline diamond structure is better suited for materials in which material lubrication occurs and which are abrasive at the same time.

It is therefore possible to process a number of non-ferrous materials more economically.
